    Aqua-Internship
                             
    Dear visitors,

    You are visiting our internship program home page. It is our pleasure to inform you that this project has
    assisted, so far, 65 MSc students of Asian partner institutions and 50 more are going to join internship to
    work and get experience from the real world. Nearly 20 students from Europe, USA and other countries
    joined the internship in Asia. We are expecting many more. Every month, our project page receive over
    1,000 hits.

    There are a number of opportunities of experiential learning. A wide range of placements and partners
    offer their services and facilities for your use. You can do your research (experimental trials or
    questionnaire surveys) or simply community services working on a day-to-day basis. Please take a look
    by clicking "Placements" button. You can scroll through the placements. Select one suitable for you. Click
    on "Apply" button if you are interested to join our network of dynamic people.

    Interns News!

    Great news: 140 students / interns have been supported / facilitated by the program so far (see at the
    end of this page). Recent current interns and their activities are described below:

    Mr Bram Bloks, a Dutch student at Wageningen University (Netherlands) is joining internship program to
    work for AwF-Nepal project in Nepal from October 2, 2011 for about three months.

    Nicolas Mazurier from Spain is also joining as a volunteer to work for AwF-Nepal project from early
    October 2, 2001

    Josh Cantrill from York has joined the internship program at AIT. He is a graduate of Bangor University in
    Wales, UK. He will continue developing aquaponics including integration of prawn culture.

    Txomin Azpeitia,a Spanish citizen graduated from Ghent University, Belgium  arrived on May 3rd for
    internship at AIT. He is conducting a trial to test an alternative to MT hormone for sex-reversal.

    Mark Woollard from Plymouth joined internship program at AIT from March 2nd. While having experience
    in tilapia hatchery, he is also assisting in editing documents and publication. Mark has got a job back in
    UK. He is leaving soon.

    Alex Kent from UK jointed internship in RIA1, who is assisting data collection on environmental
    monitoring of cage culture in Halong Bay and surrounding areas being involved with the Head of the
    Environmental Group of RIA1.

    Nichola Van Os, a South African / British citizen joined internship at AIT in 2010. She assisted in
    publication work related to aquaculture and aquatic resources management. Her article has been
    published by World Aquaculture Magazine.

    Rhaul Oliveira from Brazil arrived at AIT, conducted eco-toxicity trials using bio-markers and is now in
    Portugal to write up his PhD thesis.

    Zoe Featherstone from University of Stirling has joined the Aqua-Internship at University of Agriculture
    and Forestry (UAF), Vietnam.

    Preston from the State University of New York at New Paltz joined internship at AIT from January 11,
    2010. He completed his internship about tilapia farming as well as some other AARM activities. He is
    back in US to join new job. Congratulations!

    Nabin from IAAS, Nepal completed internship learning about tilapia farming at AIT. He also went to BAU,
    Bangladesh to learn about Pangasias farming. He gained adequate experience for running tilapia and
    Pangasias farms and has started his own in Chitwan, Nepal.

    Ms Claudia Ferraz from the University of Aveiro, Portugal joined Aqua-Inernship and she conducted a
    research on the use of probiotics in tilapia fry. She returned to Portugal.

    Earlier SONIA and SUSANA from the same university in Portugal, who joined Aqua-Internship gave

    Mr. Mikael Chavelley from Montpelier, France completed his internship and also graduated from his
    university. He met with Sonia and Susana, previous interns when they were at AIT for their internship.

    Tida Leagnavar from US joined Aqua-Internship and assisted in organizing the International Symposium
    on Aquaculture and Fisheries Education (ISAFE). Her assistance in editing abstracts was very much
    helpful and she got a great experience. Upon completion she got a job in New Zealand.
